About Leith
| NOTE: NOT TAKING ADDITIONAL STUDENTS THIS IN 2010
My name is Leith Pierce, I am a female :), a New Zealander, and have lived in Melbourne for approximately 5 years. I have recently returned from overseas. I am a qualified teacher and this is my fourth year teaching. Two and a half of these years were at Norwood Secondary College in North Ringwood and the last part of 2008 was spent teaching in London, where I instructed pupils from age 3 to 18 years. This year I am furthering my own tertiary education, relief teaching and tutoring. In my time at Norwood Secondary College I taught each year level, teaching a combination of Geography, History, Psychology and English. I am comfortable tutoring any of these subjects up to a Year 12 level. In addition to these subjects, I am also qualified to teach dance. I was very involved in school life at Norwood, attending many camps and taking on key roles in choreography and direction for performing arts productions. I have embraced new initiatives in teaching in learning, such as regularly utilising different software programs and employing interactive whiteboards in my lessons. My professional development is a high priority, and I have attended conferences and external workshops, focusing on innovative curriculum, engaging learning and student success. In 2007, I presented some of my lesson plans and ideas at the Psychology (PsyEd) conference. During the year I completed my Diploma of Education I also worked as a tutor. I tutored Year 12 students in English, History, Psychology and International Studies. I am currently tutoring Year 12 English and History, and assisting a Year 6 student with literacy and numeracy. I am a very competent and enthusiastic teacher, with varied experiences and unique skills that greatly enrich my teaching abilities. I hope that I can be of assistance to your family. |
