About Ingrid
| Hi there,
I am currently a French Teacher assistant but on a volunteer basis in Elwood College. To tell you a little bit about myself, I am a native French speaker born in Lyon, France. I completed my Bachelor Degree of Languages majoring in English and Spanish in 2005. In the end of 2006, I taught English as a Second Language for 3 months, in Avignon. (College Paul-Giera. Av Eisenhower.84000 Avignon). In 2007, I went overseas to travel and to improve my English. I lived in Cork, Ireland for a year. During that time I have worked tutoring French students as a part time job. Builiding positive relationships with students are essential for me. I value and try to know every student. E.g. conversations, talking with previous teachers, student surveys. I show a genuine interest in their welfare and they respond by working well in class, being punctual and courteous. I believe in challenging and supporting students to develop deeper level of thinking in order to become independent and self motivated. Also in order to maintain a safe learning safe environment, I guide students in problem solving re-learning and behavior. Essential to resolving conflicts with students is mutual respect, an atmosphere where students can explore question and reflect on their behavior. I also believe the combination of humor and structuring lessons yet still allowing the "unexpected"; maintaining excellent management while seeing the humanity of each student. Setting clear expectation and responding to student needs has a positive impact on students and their learning. Finally to engage students in effective learning, I use a wide range of learning techniques and technologies in my teaching practice. E.g. role-plays, conversations, games, quizzes, cartoons, fashion parade, cooking. Students are encouraged to produce their work via a choice of text types. E.g. poster, letter, dialogue, conversations, etc. In addition to text and workbooks, I use audiovisual aids, E.g. French films and TV programs. I also use Internet websites such as "Languages Online", and "Pages jaunes". Teaching is my passion. I am enthusiastic by nature and have heaps of energy to sell. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. |
