About Elise
Hi. I have recently finished my Diploma of Education through LaTrobe University for Secondary School Subjects in English and Drama. However I am available for Primary school students as well. Previously to that I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Acting at The University of Ballarat Arts Academy. I was also part of various tutoring and peer support programs during my time at high school. I am currently a casual relief teacher at St Helena Secondary College teaching all year levels and a large variety of subjects in the english/humanities department.
Ok, so enough of the credentials. Why would you want me to be your tutor?
I am very friendly and kind and I have infinite patience and time for you if you are willing to put in the work. I have a strong desire to help people succeed and have a genuine care for the entire well-being (not just academically) of my students. I have a great sense of humor and I work hard to make education fun for my students.
I believe that getting an education shouldn't be a chore, it should be a journey of discovery. I therefore don't hand feed my students the answers, I try to get my students to figure things out for themselves. I very much encourage independent thought and love hearing my students own ideas and points of view on a subject. I believe that this means that a student has truly engaged in a subject and this is the key to them doing well at school.
I am also very flexible and so can mould my ideas around what you and your child believe needs to be worked on.
I could go on for a very long time about my personal ideas of teaching but I hope that this has given you an insight into me as a person and as a teacher.
I would be very happy to talk further if you decide to contact me.
