About Benjamin
| Hi,
My name is Ben, I have completed my VCE at Brunswick Secondary College (BSC) with an ENTER of 97.3 and am in my third year of tertiary studies at the University of Melbourne. I am studying Engineering (Mechanical)/Commerce as a double degree and am also undertaking a Diploma in Modern Languages (German). During VCE I undertook a variety of subjects including English, various levels of mathematics, sciences, humanities and physical education. At BSC, I was enrolled in the SEALP (accelerated) class. Below is a list of my unit 3 and 4 subjects and the aggregate scores I attained in them. I am a competent, hardworking, person who has strong problem solving, and communication skills. I am an energetic and positive worker. I pay attention to detail and am dedicated to my responsibilities. I strongly believe that you would benefit greatly from employing me. I enjoyed helping classmates with their studies when I was in VCE and my tutoring offers me a chance to keep helping people in this way. I now have almost three years of tutoring experience. I have tutored students in the following subjects: • Year 12 further maths • Year 12 maths methods • Year 11 physics • Year 11 maths methods • Year 11 general maths A • Year 11 chemistry • I have also provided individual tutoring to a student in a LaTrobe University mathematics subject (specifically – calculus, vectors, matrices and linear algebra). I have held a position as a Basketball coach for Camp Australia. I was first coaching a year 11 basketball team at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School. When their season ended, I coached the next season at Caulfield Grammar School. My teaching methods are rather flexible. Because every person learns in a different way, I would tailor the way I teach to the individual’s preference. When I was studying during VCE, I found diagrams and summarisation of key points to be very useful. I have a supportive and patient approach to explanation. I aim to give my students a solid understanding of the theory, which I think needs to be coupled with practice problems to develop a confident problem solving ability. Thank you for taking the time to consider my application. If you have any further queries or require clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me. Regards, Ben. The following is a list of my unit 3 and 4 subjects and the aggregate scores I attained in them: English - 41.87 Specialist Mathematics - 46.32 Physics - 43.86 Mathematical Methods (studied in year 11)- 42.92 Biology (studied in year 11) - 39.71 Chemistry - 36.95 The above scores are ENTER subject scores calculated by VTAC through the scaling process and include only those studies used in the calculation of my ENTER. In year 12, I also studied Business Management and attained a study score before scaling of 36. The following are some of the other achievements and awards I received during my high school education: • In year 11, I competed in the Victorian Division of the National Chemical Analysis Competition (involving accurate titration) and my team came in the top ten in Victora. • In year 10, I participated in the Melbourne University Mentor Program for which I studied economic philosophy (theory) as well as business ethics with a PhD student. • I have also been awarded for my efforts in various science, mathematics, english and geography competitions. HOBBIES and INTERESTS: Sports – Basketball and pool/billiards as well as coaching my sister in tennis Music – Violin (I play violin in the Engineering Music Society (EMS) orchestra)and Saxophone. REFEREES: Contact me if you wish me to send you the contact details of my referees. |
