About Amy
Amy Alexander teaches piano and keyboards from her home in Reservoir.

Beginning on the piano/keyboards at the age of 5, Amy completed VCE music in ’97 (group & solo), the Diploma in Music Performance (Jazz/Popular) at NMIT in ‘99, and is currently in her 3rd year of the Bachelor of Applied Music (Composition) at Box Hill Institute.

After living in the UK for 7 years, performing in bands and running her own songwriting course at Lancaster University, she returned to Melbourne in 2007 to continue her career as a singer/songwriter, performer, composer and teacher. Amy taught with Creative Music for Schools for 3 years, before moving to private teaching at home.

While her principal instrument is piano/keyboard, she is a multi-instrumentalist (keyboards, vocals, guitar, ukulele and flute) and has a broad range of skills and knowledge, including music theory, ear training, arranging and composition. In 2009, she won the Darebin Music Feast Songwriter’s Awards for her song ‘Hill’s Hoist’.

Amy teaches students how to read music, play by ear, and encourages students to explore writing their own compositions. She inspires fun and creativity in her students, and motivates those that wish to pursue AMEB exams. Students can learn pop/rock, jazz/blues, and classical styles.

Lessons are $25 per half hour, paid each week in advance, or pay in advance for the term and receive 20% off. Adults welcome.
